10th Anniversary Celebration: 12 July 2008
Busting With Life celebrated its 10th anniversary with a gala dinner on 12 July 08 and a flower ceremony the following morning. Jennifer Terry, who has been a member of the team since day one, reflects on the celebration:
"After many months of meticulous planning, the Committee announced that Busting With Life would celebrate 10 years of dragon boat racing with a special anniversary dinner at Fairway Lodge on July 12, 2008. Ex paddlers, friends, coaches and managers were invited to come along and reminisce with the team. All were welcomed at the door with a pink floral lei. The room was artistically decorated for the occasion with flowers, balloons, team photo albums and team memorabilia. A power point presentation of photographs, spanning the 10 years, played continuously all evening. Speeches were made, the raffle drawn and beautiful, commemorative silver and paua pins were presented to Clare, Irene, Jenny, Linley, Pauline and Robyn who have been with the team since its inception 10 years ago. The dinner was much enjoyed by all - it was a truly memorable evening.
The following morning many returned to the Pumphouse jetty at Lake Pupuke for a flower ceremony ably led by Misha Crosbie. Our thoughts were with those paddlers we have lost and those currently battling the disease - always so sad for us all. Afterwards we adjourned to the conservatory at Columbus Café for a welcoming morning tea."
